With the chaos that 2020 brought with it, many movies slated for release during the year had to be pushed forward to 2021.

Here’s a few of the movies I’m most anticipating in the first half of the year.

Tom and Jerry

If you’re like me and you grew up watching the cartoon, and you wouldn’t mind reliving your childhood, then you should see this movie.

Tom and Jerry decide to call a truce on their rivalry and go their separate ways but end up crossing paths in an hotel where Jerry has been causing mayhem and Tom is hired by an employee to catch him.

There’s bound to be drama and some nostalgia while watching it.

Starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena and Ken Jeong.

Out February 26!!!

Coming to America 2

33 years after the release of the first installment, we get a sequel to the movie. Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) finds out that he has a son in America just as he’s about to become king. His father’s dying wish is for him to groom the son to become king and so he sets out to America once again to find him.

If you ask me, some movies are better left without a sequel/prequel but it’d be nice to see Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall team up for a second installment.

Also starring Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones and Shari Headley; the latter two reprising their roles.

Out on Amazon Prime on March 5!!!

Black Widow

As a huge Marvel fan, I am ecstatic for this movie to come out. This will be the first movie of Phase 4 to be released and follows the events of Captain America: Civil War. We all know Natasha Romanoff died in Endgame so this will be a prequel of sorts.

Black Widow will delve into the life of Natasha Romanoff and how the mistakes and enemies she made before she became an Avenger come back to hunt her.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh and David Harbour.

Out May 7!!!

If you’re a horror/psychological thriller movie fan, this is the movie to look out for. Spiral is the ninth installment in the Saw Franchise spanning 18 years.

So quick recap, Saw revolves around serial killer Jigsaw who traps his victims in situations that he calls games to test their will through physical and mental torture. He believes that if they survive, they are reformed.

Now this movie is a reboot of the older installments where two police officers find themselves in Jigsaw’s game.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock and Max Minghella.

Out May 21!!!

Fast and Furious 9

Honestly, I’m tired of this series. Like let’s be done with it already. But a franchise that has raked in over 5 billion dollars worldwide will have to be milked dry.

Everyone reprises their roles and Charlize Theron returns as the villain Cipher who is working with Dominic Toretto’s brother, played by John Cena. Yes, Dom has a brother and maybe in the next installment, we’ll see his grandfather. But as long as people are fighting, cars are flying and shit is getting blown up, I’m here for it.

Out April 1!!!

The Conjuring: The devil made me do it

The eighth installment in The Conjuring Universe and the sequel to The Conjuring 2, our favorite paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren are back to investigate the supernatural. This movie is not for you if you are not a horror movie fan.

Based on real events, this movie tells the story of Arne Cheyenne Johnson who murdered his landlord and then claimed demonic possession as his defense during trial.

I cannot wait for this movie to be released so I can have my heart racing.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Out June 4!!!

Judas and the Black Messiah

The title of this movie literally tells what it’s about.

A petty thief is recruited by the FBI in the 1960s to infiltrate the Black Panther party and take down its chairman. Based on real events, this is one movie I’m itching to see most especially because of Daniel Kaluuya’s performance. I think he’s a very versatile actor and he would kill the role. Also, the movie was named one of the best films of 2020 by the National Board of Review. That’s more than enough reason to watch it.

Also starring Lakeith Stanfield and Dominique Fishback.

Godzilla vs Kong

Monster versus Monster equals destruction.

I’m always here for destruction.

Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown and Rebecca Hall.
